Best time to travel to Tanzania and Mozambique
To enjoy sea and beach activities in Tanzania and Mozambique, we recommend the following seasons:
Tanzania (Zanzibar)
The best time to visit Zanzibar (and the other islands in the archipelago) for luxury and yachting activities such as sailing, diving and snorkeling is during the dry season, which runs from June to October.
- Climate: During these months, rainfall is scarce, the weather is warm but not excessively hot, and sea conditions are ideal for yachting. In addition, temperatures are pleasant, around 25-30°C, making outdoor activities very enjoyable.
- The sea: The waters are calm, perfect for water activities such as diving in the coral reefs of Mnemba Island or snorkeling in the crystal clear waters.
Mozambique (Bazaruto Archipelago and Quirimbas Islands)
Mozambique is a fascinating destination for luxury yacht tourism, especially in the areas of the Quirimbas Islands and the Bazaruto Archipelago. The dry season from April to November is the most recommended to enjoy the perfect weather for water activities and sailing. In fact, July to October is considered the best period, as the sea conditions are calmer and the temperatures are pleasant.
- Climate: During these months, rainfall is minimal and the weather is mild, ideal for spending time on the water without the high temperatures of summer (when temperatures can exceed 30°C).
- The sea: The waters of the Bazaruto Archipelago are perfect for sailing. The area is known for its coral reefs, abundant marine life (including dolphins, turtles and manta rays), making it ideal for diving and snorkeling. Sailing here is a luxury, with exclusive access to private islands and pristine beaches.
Summary of the best times:
- Tanzania (Zanzibar): June to October.
- Mozambique (Bazaruto and Quirimbas): April to November, with July to October being the ideal peak for both climate and sailing.
In both destinations, the yachting experience offers unparalleled access to the natural beauty of their coastlines and crystal clear waters, with the opportunity to enjoy exclusive activities such as scuba diving, sport fishing and private excursions, all in a luxurious setting.
Two experiences not to be missed on a luxury yacht cruise in Tanzania & Mozambique
Quirimbas Archipelago, Mozambique
Snorkeling & Diving in Vamizi’s Coral Reefs
The Quirimbas Archipelago is a paradise for ocean lovers, home to some of the world’s most spectacular coral reefs. Swim among turtles, reef sharks, manta rays, and tropical fish in a nearly untouched marine ecosystem.
Much of these waters are protected, ensuring marine conservation and promoting responsible, sustainable tourism.
Zanzibar Archipelago, Tanzania
Swim with Dolphins in Kizimkazi
On the southern coast of Zanzibar, Kizimkazi offers a rare opportunity to swim with dolphins in their natural habitat. Here, it is common to encounter bottlenose and spotted dolphins in a breathtaking marine environment.
Take advantage of your visit to relax on white sandy beaches, explore crystal-clear waters, or discover the rich history of Stone Town.
